This position will be focused on Quality/Scanning/Record keeping and Mechanical Design. The breakup will be 40% Mechanical Design 60% Quality/scanning, which will encompass utilizing advanced 3D scanning technologies and software to inspect parts and assemblies. The mechanical Design portion will be part of designing custom automated systems.

Quality:

  • Conduct part and assembly inspections; Using Advance 3D technology for high precision and accuracy of measurements
  • Utilize 3D scanning technology and a Hexagon portable measuring arm for complex parts and assemblies
  • identify and analyze key features, create probing and scanning programs for precise and accurate measurements of parts and assemblies
  • Compare and analyze data against original CAD models.
  • Perform GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) alignment and inspection
    assess part compliance and identify potential issues during the inspection process.
  • Make mechanical adjustments to fixtures and assemblies to ensure key datum and location features match CAD
  • Maintain a log of shim adjustments for each fixture and assembly to support ISO data and KPI tracking

Mechanical Design:

  • Develop and design custom machinery and automation systems, including fixtures and components for project-specific applications.
  • Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and NX to create 3D models and revise designs based on project requirements and customer feedback.
  • Conduct design simulations to validate functionality, performance, and safety using design simulation tools.
  • Design and implement safety systems for robotics cells and machinery to ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
  • Develop SolidWorks revisions, create a toolbox, and manage the CAD library for both purchased and manufactured parts.

Experience and Education:

Previous experience with 3D modelling software is an asset

Experience with PolyWorks considered an asset

A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, system

Experience with Hexagon scanner considered an asset

Compensation: $28-32
