To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience:
- Experience fitting structural steel, plate work and custom fabrications
- Must ensure that all parts are prefabricated and fit up correctly within given tolerances
- Excellent blueprint reading skills and weld symbol knowledge
- Experience with fabrication equipment (brake press, shears, iron worker, etc.) is an asset
- Experience working with forklifts is an asset
- Capable of component layout and detailing
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on safety
- Excellent ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Job Description:
- Assist in the development and implementation of fabrication manufacturing to ensure that project
goals are met on budget. - Read and interpret welding blueprints, designs, and welding process specifications.
- Examine welds to ensure that they meet all applicable industry standards.
- Always operate equipment in compliance with safety rules, regulations, and requirements. Ensure
that all PPE is used, and guards are in place. - Demonstrate knowledge of various welding processes.
- Perform basic cutting and welding of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
- Setup, operate, adjust, lockout and troubleshoot basic operation issues.
- Use basic mathematics including fractions, measurements, and geometry to ensure material is
welded to specifications.
Experience and Education:
- Completed Welder’s Certificate, GTAW certificate, GMAW certificate, MCAW certificate or
possess related education/experience in manufacturing, automation and/or welding is an asset. - Excellent mechanical aptitude and experience working in a custom fabrication environment is an
asset. - A minimum of one-year related work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Physical strength and endurance ability to lift to 50lbs.
- Occasional travel may be required, valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is a
must.
